چکیده

The emerging contaminants (ECs) is detected at trace concentration in the discharge of sewage treatment plant (STP) to water bodies indicate incomplete removal during process. presence ECs has a potential impact on ecological and human health associated with long-term ingestion mixture compounds, this includes development resistance pathogenic bacteria, aquatic toxicity, genotoxicity, endocrine disruption. In study, we investigate review occurrence mainly four pharmaceutical active compounds belonging group non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) influent effluent STP. target analytes (ibuprofen (IBU), diclofenac (DIC), ketoprofen (KET), naproxen (NAP)) are extracted from wastewater using solid-phase extraction (SPE) followed by identification quantification gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). GC-MS detection was improved derivatisation technique N-Methyl-N-(trimethylsilyl) trifluoroacetamide (MSTFA) an internal standard Ibuprofen-D3 used as standard. targeted were both range 5.04±5.9 37.4±28.4 µg/L efficiency between 11 - 86% current activated sludge process This shows inadequate techniques eliminate wastewater.

Organic Compounds Fractionation for Domestic Wastewater Treatment Modeling

Organic compounds in domestic wastewater have a highly differentiated composition, which depends on the source of wastewater. Detailed fractionation of organic pollutants is indispensible to determine their transformation during treatment processes. Mathematical modeling requires the division of organic compounds in wastewater into the fractions: dissolved, suspended, biodegradable, and unbiode...

Investigating the removal of some pharmaceutical compounds in hospital wastewater treatment plants operating in Saudi Arabia

The concentrations of 12 pharmaceutical compounds (atenolol, erythromycin, cyclophosphamide, paracetamol, bezafibrate, carbamazepine, ciprofloxacin, caffeine, clarithromycin, lidocaine, sulfamethoxazole and N-acetylsulfamethoxazol (NACS)) were investigated in the influents and effluents of two hospital wastewater treatment plants (HWWTPs) in Saudi Arabia. The majority of the target analytes wer...

Sorption and mobility of pharmaceutical compounds in soil irrigated with reclaimed wastewater.

Use of reclaimed wastewater for irrigation is an important route for the introduction of pharmaceutical compounds (PCs) into the environment. In this study, the mobility and sorption-desorption behavior of carbamazepine, naproxen and diclofenac were studied in soil layers sampled from a plot irrigated with secondary-treated wastewater (STWW). Carbamazepine and diclofenac were significantly reta...

Persistence of pharmaceutical compounds and other organic wastewater contaminants in a conventional drinking-water-treatment plant

In a study conducted by the US Geological Survey and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 24 water samples were collected at selected locations within a drinking-water-treatment (DWT) facility and from the two streams that serve the facility to evaluate the potential for wastewater-related organic contaminants to survive a conventional treatment process and persist in potable-water s...

Environmental life cycle assessment of different domestic wastewater streams: policy effectiveness in a tropical urban environment.

To enhance local water security, the Singapore government promotes two water conservation policies: the use of eco-friendly toilets to reduce yellow water (YW) disposal and the installation of water efficient devices to minimize gray water (GW) discharge. The proposed water conservation policies have different impacts on the environmental performance of local wastewater management. The main pur...
